Successful Inauguration of The 2026 German Expert Academic Exchange at Jiangsu Province Hospital of Chinese Medicine –Second Lecture of the 2026 Annual Specialty Frontier Lecture Series
On April 15, 2026, The 2026 German expert academic exchange at Jiangsu Province Hospital of Chinese Medicine – the second lecture of the 2026 annual specialty frontier lecture series was successfully held.The forum focused on the latest advances in orthopedicsneurology. Professor Jan Borggrefe, Director of the Institute of Radiology at the University Hospital of Ruhr University Bochum, Germany,Dr. Nihad Al Hussin, Director of the Department of OrthopedicsTrauma Surgery at the Foundation Hospital of Paderborn, Germany, were specially invited. Joining them were Professor Shen Jirong, Director of the Department of OrthopedicsTraumatology at Jiangsu Province Hospital of Chinese Medicine,Professor Chen Zhaoyao, Deputy Director (Presiding over work) of the Department of Neurology, who delivered keynote reports. Chen Ran, Chairperson of the Board of China Huatong Guokang Foundation, attended the meetingdelivered a speech. Nearly 200 participants – including department directorsmedical staff from orthopedics, neurology,neurosurgery, as well as representatives of talent programsyoung physicians from the hospitals main campusZidong campus - attended this academic feast. Professor Chen pointed out that Jiangsu Province Hospital of Chinese Medicine is a construction unit of the National Medical Center, a construction unit of the National Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM) InheritanceInnovation Center, a National TCM Clinical Research Base, an output unit of the National Regional TCM Medical Center, a National TCM Epidemic Disease PreventionTreatment Base, a National TCM Clinical TeachingTraining Demonstration Center, one of the first batch of high-level hospitals in Jiangsu Province, one of the first batch of research-oriented hospitals in Jiangsu Province,a Jiangsu Provincial TCM Clinical Medical Innovation Center. Under the President Xi Jinping’s vision of a community with a shared future for mankind, the hospital will continue to carry out diverse forms of academic exchange both domesticallyinternationally, continuously improving clinicalresearch standards to benefit the peopleenhance public wellbeing.Professor Chen emphasized that talent is the core driving force behind the development of healthcare,international exchange serves as a crucial pathway for cultivating high-caliber medical professionals. Over the past decade, Beijing Huatong Guokang Foundation has been deeply engaged in the field of medicalhealth philanthropy, remaining committed to its original mission of "caring for the growth of medical personnel" while dedicating itself to advancing medical scientific researchpromoting international medical collaboration. From Uzbekistan to Nanjing: Crossing miles for the healing touch of TCM
Mr. Akhmedov, 79-year-old from Uzbekistan, experienced frequent chest tightnesssubtle pain during his visit to Nanjing. The Frontier forum on metabolic diseases in integrated Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM)western medicine of Jiangsu Province Hospital of Chinese Medicine –first lecture of the 2026 annual specialty frontier lecture series was successfully held on March 19, 2026.The forum focused on the latest advances in integrated TCM and western medicine for metabolic diseases. Professor David E. Cohen, a leading scholar in international metabolic disease research from Harvard Universitycurrently Director of the Department of Medicine at Cedars-Sinai Medical Center, was invited as a distinguished speaker. Joining him were Professor Zhou Xiqiao, Director of the Department of Endocrinology at Jiangsu Province Hospital of Chinese Medicine; Professor Liu Lanying, Deputy Director (presiding over work) of the Department of AcupunctureRehabilitation; and Professor Qiao Fei, Director of the Department of Infectious Diseases. Together, they delivered keynote reports. Nearly 300 participants from the hospital’s main campusZidong campus attended this academic feast. Currently, metabolic dysfunction-associated steatotic liver disease (MASLD/MASH), along with its associated conditions such as type 2 diabetesobesity, has emerged as a major public health issue severely threatening the health of the nations population. We deeply recognize that to tackle complex metabolic diseases, we must not only inherit the essence of TCMs "holistic approach and syndrome-based treatment" but also employ modern scientific methods to elucidate its mechanisms of action. The integration of TCM and western medicine is not a mere addition but a deep convergence at the levels of theory, methodology,technology.Professor Wu emphasized that the Frontier Forum on Metabolic Diseases in Integrated TCM and Western Medicine -- the 2026 Annual Specialty Frontier Lecture Series represents one of the hospitals key strategic initiatives at the outset of the 15th Five-Year Plan period. Exciting News! Jiangsu Province Hospital of Chinese Medicine Recognized as One of the First National TCM Service Export Bases
To expand the export of TCM servicesaccelerate the high-quality development of TCM service trade, the Ministry of Commerce of the People’s Republic of China and the National Administration of Traditional Chinese Medicine launched a certification program for national TCM service export bases. Following recommendations from provincial commerceTCM regulatory authorities, expert evaluations, comprehensive assessments,public announcements, Jiangsu Province Hospital of Chinese Medicine was officially recognized as one of the first national TCM service export bases in November 2019.Yu Wenming, the president of the National Administration of Traditional Chinese Medicine, and Wang Bingnan, the deputy minister of the Ministry of Commerce, presented certificates to 17 units recognized in this first batch, with our hospitals president Zhai Yuxiang attending the ceremony.In recent years, under the guidance of the Ministry of Commercethe National Administration of Traditional Chinese Medicine,with the support from Jiangsu Provincial TCM Administration, Jiangsu Provincial Foreign Affairs Office, Jiangsu Provincial Overseas Chinese Affairs Office,Overseas Chinese Federation, Jiangsu Province Hospital of Chinese Medicine has implemented the national "BeltRoad" initiative. Focusing on "TCM Services for Overseas Chinese," we have engaged in multi-faceted cooperation with over ten countries abroad to construct a TCM service export base.
